Getting Things Going
This blog will follow new
knowledge gleaned through a graduate seminar on Community Based Planning at
Mississippi State University. I am Conner Griffin, and I'm excited to grow this
blog as the semester progresses. I have a BArch from MSU, and I have been on an
accelerated track for my MLA for the last few years. I most recently worked at
Waterstreet Studio based out of Richmond, Virginia, and my research interests
focus on feasibility of pedestrian and biking infrastructure for rural
communities.
I have especially enjoyed our first discussions
of class and its playing into communal development as with the readings about
Levittown and the Engels' excerpt "the great towns". I am one who has
overcome his rural conservative upbringing and become far more interested in
social systems outlined by the likes of Marx and Engels. This plays into my
overall attitude of being stronger together, and thus the need to plan with
these tenets in mind. I hope this counts as my first post, I promise to all
readers that the rest will be further fleshed out. Im excited to write them,
and I hope you all enjoy reading them!
